much needed...

{ROAD TRIP}

i took my first ever road trip without hubby...
here are a few things i learned:
1. i can drive for 7.5 hours by myself {with 2 kids}
2. i really get bugged when people don't use cruise control
3. the portable dvd player revolutionized car travel with kids
4. ring pops are awesome
5. only give the kids a drink when they are dying of thirst
6. i don't want to use a public restroom for a VERY long time
{we stopped 7 times on the way there!}

matt left for a dental conference, and i couldn't bear to be alone, especially because it was in arizona {and i'm so lonley for az and the people there! it will be an entire year before i get back there!} well, i talked to my mom, and she was lonely because my dad was going to be out of town for 3 weeks on business...so we decided we could help ease our lonliness by being together. so i packed the kids up, and headed for virginga. i was really nervous b/c i hate driving for long periods of time, but it wasn't that bad. the kids did really well. we had so much fun being with nana. she is such an involved grandma, and it was nice for me to have some help. the kids loved to sleep in her bed and snuggle with her in the rocking chair. i feel so blessed to have such a wonderful mom that i LOVE to visit. this whole move to virginia is working out great for me! now that i know i can do it myself, i'll go more often!

Wow you've been on a post-a-thon! I didn't think it had been too long since I'd wandered over to see what's going on in your neck of the woods. Looks like you're keeping occupied while Matt's gone. Enjoy your time with your mom! Oh, and I am definately trying those muffins! Yum!

I have lots of fun memories of road trips with my Mom to Grandmother and Grandad's house in the mountains. With work Dad couldn't always come. I'm sure your kids are going to feel the same in the future. Hope you have many more fun road trips to Nana and Papa's.

Happy you could get away for a good break... but happier you are home! Missed ya girl. You have such fun posts, I love to read them, even though I see you basically everyday and live a few yards away!

Um...what do you mean by "a whole year" before you get back to AZ??? I was thinking I would see you in a few months... You're freaking me out! And I'm super proud of you for making that drive (and I get super annoyed by people who don't use cruise control too...). I wonder if I'll ever make the Mesa-Provo drive without another adult. Hmm...maybe. Well, as the others have said, it was fun to have Matt here, and we missed you and the kiddos. Love ya!

Look how creative you are with your little road trip sign. So cute. Don't worry we missed out too if it makes you feel any better. Can't wait for Thanksgiving. Tonight in Kyson's prayers he said and bless that I can play with my cousins soon! Would Thanksgiving hurry up and get here already! Miss you guys!

Way to go Lara! What a fun trip! And yes--DVD players in the car are magical! Love the 'road trip' pictures--that was really cute! And I love your updated family pic at the top--you look amazing...as usual. ;)
